Albemarle forms new pollution control division
US-based specialty chemicals firm Albemarle has formed an environmental division, seeking to enhance what it called an “important market segment” within the air pollution control industry.
Albemarle’s environmental division is focused on expanding the product and service offerings for the company’s environmental business through the development of multi-pollutant control technologies, it said.
William S. Pickrell has been appointed to global business director, replacing Sid Nelson Jr.
"This new organization is positioned to provide the products and services to meet the increasing demands of the market segments we serve. I am excited to be leading this division as we develop and bring to market innovative technologies for pollution control," said Pickrell.
Pickrell has over 28 years of experience in the specialty chemicals industry including 15 years of sales and sales management experience within the industrial water treatment industry and 10 years of business management experience for Albemarle.
Albemarle’s environmental division is a part of the company's fine chemistry segment. It provides solutions to the coal-fired utility, cement kiln, and industrial boiler markets, supplying a variety of proprietary, powder activated carbon (PAC) sorbents, advanced sorbent injection systems, bromine chemicals for mercury removal, and testing and demonstration services.
