Shaw awarded pipe fabrication services deal for US manufacturing facility
US-based engineering and construction firm The Shaw Group signed a multi-year contract with a private company to provide pipe fabrication services for a new $1 billion domestic manufacturing facility, officials said on Tuesday.
The contract, valued at more than $100 million, will be included in Shaw’s fabrication and manufacturing segment’s backlog of unfilled orders in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011, it said.
“Shaw was founded 25 years ago as a pipe fabrication company,” said David Chapman, president of Shaw’s fabrication and manufacturing group.
“Today, our fabrication technology and production management systems can support significant capital projects in the power and process industries for clients around the world.”
Shaw said it provides piping, structural steel and duct panel fabrication, module assembly, as well as pipe products and the world's leading proprietary bending technology, for the power and process industries, including nuclear, gas- and coal-fired power plants, oil extraction, pipeline, refining, petrochemical and chemical.
Through nine facilities worldwide that are equipped with the latest manufacturing technology, Shaw creates total fabrication solutions for its customers.
