URS acquires civil engineering firm BP Barber

URS Corp. today announced it has acquired BP Barber, a privately-held civil engineering firm specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure and headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With a staff of approximately 150 professionals working from six offices located in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, BP Barber is a provider of engineering services to state and local government agencies and private sector companies in the Southeast.

The company primarily serves the water/wastewater market. It also provides environmental, urban development, surveying and geographic information system services.

The addition of BP Barber expands URS’ presence in South Carolina, particularly in the attractive water/wastewater market and provides immediate opportunities for URS to broaden services to existing BP Barber customers, it said.

“We are very pleased to have BP Barber join URS,” said Gary V. Jandegian, president of infrastructure and environment for URS. “BP Barber adds technical expertise and highly skilled resources to expand our service offerings to public and private sector clients in the southeast United States.”
