Technip awarded project management contract for China chemical plant

Bluestar Adisseo Nanjing awarded France-based company Technip a detailed engineering, procurement and project management services contract for a methionine plant in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China.

Methionine is an amino acid containing sulphur found in most proteins and essential for nutrition.

The plant, which will be the first integrated liquid methionine unit in China, will have a production capacity of 140 kilotons/year.

Technip’s operating center in Shanghai, China, will execute the contract, of which mechanical completion is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2012.

This award follows the successful execution by Technip of the basic engineering, design and process design package, the company said.
