Emerson opens new engineering and development center in China

Emerson Process Management has opened a new engineering and development center within the recently expanded Asia Flow Technology Center in Nanjing, China.

By facilitating local development of innovative products in Asia, Emerson said it will strengthen its capabilities in supporting regional customers with process automation technologies and solutions tailored to customer challenges and needs.

The new center brings Emerson’s total investment in Nanjing to more than $35 mn and strengthens the company’s overall presence in the China and Asia Pacific region, it said.

The new center expands the scope of Emerson’s Nanjing campus, which already operates as the Asian regional production and distribution hub, as well as the ISO17025 accredited calibration center for Emerson’s leading flow metering and measurement technologies.

Engineering and development capabilities being added to the facility will include sensor and electronics design, multi-fluid application testing, environmental testing and analysis, and modeling capabilities for Micro Motion Coriolis flow and density meters, Rosemount vortex and magnetic flowmeters, and Daniel ultrasonic and differential pressure flowmeters, the company said.

Products designed and developed at this facility will be used to serve customers in the oil and gas, refining, petrochemicals, marine, life sciences, food and beverage, metals and mining, and pulp and paper industries, Emerson said.

“We continuously strive to understand local customer requirements and now have the ability to respond to those needs with a local design team,” said Larry Flatt, vice president of the flow group for Emerson Process Management.

“The new engineering and development center complements our now fully established manufacturing and distribution center and co-locates design engineers with marketing, manufacturing, and supply chain resources,” he added.

The site expansion includes adding design engineering office space and the addition of comprehensive engineering test and design equipment, the company said.
