Ralph Davies (rdavies@becht.com) has worked in technical sales and support of process, water and waste treatment for more than 50 yrs. In 1985, he started Chemisolv, providing innovative chemical services, and created the very first chemical decontamination service for oil refinery shutdowns, delivering safer working conditions and significant time savings on major outages. He has continued to develop new approaches and research emerging issues throughout. Davies works within Becht (www.becht.com) as an advisor focusing on ways to shorten outages by better planning and preparation of chemical decontamination projects.

Gordon Lawrence (glawrence@becht.com) is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and a Fellow of the UK Institution of Chemical Engineers. He has nearly 40 yrs of experience in capital project management and maintenance turnaround preparation and planning. This experience has been gained with owner, contractor and consulting organizations working on sites and at the corporate level, on onshore and offshore facilities across the globe. Lawrence specializes in project and turnaround preparation, planning best practices, and execution control. He has published several papers and several cost-estimating recommended practices with the AACE-I.
