The Authors
Steve Elwart is the Information Systems Manager for Ergon Refining and has worked for Ergon for 35 yr. He has been involved with automation and information technology for more than 40 yr.
Marcelo Carugo is the VP of Global Refining and Chemical for Emerson’s Automation Solutions business. He works with downstream manufacturers to create a clear and actionable path to operational excellence, using advanced automation and digitalization strategies. Mr. Carugo joined Emerson in 1998 and has more than 30 yr of experience as a process control expert in the chemical and refining fields, both internationally and in the U.S.
