Hazard analysis is a powerful and highly effective tool for identifying and evaluating potential hazards and control measures (Fig. 1). Its versatility provides an economical and insightful assessment of potential hazards at multiple stages in the lifespan of a project. When used correctly, it is also an effective method of identifying potential job hazards involving maintenance and operational tasks. Yet, caution should be exercised.
